Here are a few quick facts about us: We are open for food distribution on Thursdays from 2:30-4:30pm. Neighbors are limited to two visits per month. We served 9,800 families in 2024, averaging 192 families per week. Continuing the drive-thru distribution model adopted early in the pandemic has allowed us to continue to serve many more families, but we need approximately 40 volunteers every week. We acquire most of our food through donations and local food banks including Food Bank of the Rockies and FERN (Food Exchange Resource Network). SWS Food Pantry Policies and Guidelines:

SWS is committed to address food and hunger issues proactively in the Sheridan area. SWS is funded solely through donations and grants, and operated solely by volunteers. All volunteers agree to abide by the following principles:

Conduct: Persons who come to SWS for assistance are considered neighbors and are treated with compassion and dignity. Volunteers are giving of their time and are treated kindly by all other volunteers. We have zero tolerance for violence, harassment, and threatening or unruly behavior toward our neighbors or volunteers.

Stewardship: We strive to manage the use of the precious resources entrusted to our care responsibly and compassionately. Confidentiality: We respect confidences of SWS, those we serve and our donors. All information and data about neighbors, volunteers and donors is confidential and may not be discussed with unauthorized persons.

Discrimination / Harassment: We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, citizenship, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, unfavorable discharge from the military, or status as a protected veteran.

Alcohol and Drugs: We strictly prohibit the use, sale, dispensing, possession, or manufacture of alcohol, marijuana, and illegal drugs while engaged in volunteer activities on behalf of SWS.

Minimum Age / Child Care: Most volunteer activities, including food sorting, require children to be age 11 or older. Any child below the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult to work at SWS. Groups may be accepted with a teacher or other adult leader. Childcare is not provided for volunteers during volunteer service. Parents wishing for their school-aged children to work alongside them when volunteering must receive prior permission from the Volunteer Coordinator.

Court-Mandated Volunteers / Community Service Volunteers: Individuals completing court-ordered community service for non-violent offenses may volunteer with SWS.
