St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization.  The Artesia chapter has been in operation since 1984 when it was founded by Martha Shoemaker.  Its original location was in a garage at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where clothing was distributed to those in need.  Volunteers recognized that a food pantry was a greater need.  A decision was made to relocate St. Vincent to 603 S. Roselawn Avenue and rename it St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank which has been feeding hungry residents ever since.
