To “feed the hungry” and to improve the quality of life of the underserved in Big Pine and the Lower Keys community.

Ministry:

The Food Pantry is a 501c designated non-profit organization completely operated by caring, compassionate volunteers for the past 25 years. We serve approximately 55 families every week. All are served regardless of their background or religious affiliation; no one is turned away. Our donations come from parishioners and several Community organizations including but not limited to Feeding South Florida (FSF) and Store Donation contributors (Winn Dixie/ ALDIs). Donations are primarily food items, but we also receive monetary donations. The monetary donations come from generous Parishioners and local community organizations. FSF has a partner agreement with the USDA program "The Emergency Food Assistance Program" (TEFAP). Clients do need to meet eligibility criteria to receive food items from TEFAP. Food items from TEFAP account for a very small percentage of the donations we receive. An estimated 98% of the clients that utilize our Pantry meet the criteria to receive TEFAP items. There are enough donations from other sources to ensure anyone presenting to the Pantry has their food needs met. The Pantry provides supplemental foods including non-perishable products, canned goods, fresh produce, meats, and a few basic hygiene items. Food donations are distributed to clients from 10:30 to 12:30 every Tuesday, excluding holidays.
