The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

We provide food assistance to all eligible individuals and families.  Photo ID is preferred, but never required.  We also offer various other types of assistance: rental assistance, utility assistance, case management programs, children's educational programming, and more!

Program Overview

The Salvation Army’s Food Assistance and Pantry program is designed to provide food items to families in need. These food items include, but are not limited to: frozen and refrigerated items such as meat and dairy products, canned items, fresh bread, pastries and produce.

Photo ID is preferred, but never required. 

Monthly Mass Distribution: Last Friday of each month, beginning at 1:00pm.

Emergency Food: Available daily upon request. Please call our office for more information on receiving an emergency food box.


Program Qualifications
Please see the PA Department of Agriculture Income Guidelines (CLICK HERE) for information on eligibility to receive food assistance. A form of ID is not required but is helpful to speed up registration.

Program Overview

Rental or Utility Assistance for court-ordered evictions, shut-off notices, or clients coming from a shelter or other place not meant for human habitation (i.e. park bench, car, street corner). 


Program Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements:

* Must have a court-ordered eviction or shut-off notice, or living in a shelter or other location not meant for human habitation (i.e. park bench, car, etc.).

* Must have proof of income

* Must have valid PA photo ID for head of household

* Must have social security cards for all household members

* Must have birth certificates for all children under the age of 18

* Landlord must be willing to work with The Salvation Army and accept payment from our organization.

* We cannot provide funding for room rentals or anything less than a one-year lease.

The Emergency Solutions Grant is a MATCHING PROGRAM.  Clients may be required to pay 10% of the total amount needed to be eligible to receive funding.

Program Overview

The Salvation Army Reading Corps, in collaboration with United Way and other partnering agencies, perform heating and utility assistance ONLY under the use of EFSP funds. These funds include: oil/propane assistance, and utility assistance under electric, water, and gas.

Funds are provided for a one-month period only.

EFSP is a need-based program.

EFSP is a need-based program. The program is not based on income. Clients should apply for LIHEAP first.

Utility assistance for low-income customers with UGI gas services.

Program Qualifications

The funds under this program are intended to target low-income, payment-troubled residential customers that reside in the service territories of the UGI company, specifically:

1. Individuals and families who have gross household income verified at 150 percent of poverty or less

2. Individuals and families who are residential heating or non-heating customers with active energy service from one of the UGI companies.
