Shelter

Life Transformation Program

Program Overview
Mission: We serve the most needful in our community; we feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and provide safety for the hurt and the neglected. We advocate for each person who comes through our door. Vision: Our goal is to empower individuals and families to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential, making our community a better place for all. Hope House Guthrie (United Way partner agency) is an 18000-square-foot building with three wings; Wing (A) for men, wing (B) for women, and (C) for families and House offices. There are 37 large rooms with two single beds each, furniture, and closets, a full bathroom is shared with the person in the next room, with exceptions for families that have private bathrooms. Towels, linens, and blankets are provided, as well as clothing and toiletries as needed. We provide a public shower for those walk-ins who choose not to stay, they can have a shower and are given a hot meal and an additional meal to take with them. A baby room full of baby items like clothing, baby hygiene items, toys, cribs, car seats, and much more is made available. We also offer our closet for clean clothing, coats, or shoes and socks if we have the right sizes. They leave knowing they are welcome to come back and stay when they are ready. Hope House Guthrie is a homeless shelter that offers sober living and support services for individuals in need. The facility used to be an old nursing home and now provides food, shelter, and safety to those fleeing domestic violence situations, with a primary focus on single mothers with children. In addition to these services, Hope House Guthrie offers a Life Transformation Program that assists individuals with rebuilding their lives and families starting the reunification process. We have served over 700 clients since we opened our doors in 2020. Early in COVID-19 and a few months ago, we hosted Logan County Health Department vaccination day at Hope House Guthrie for our clients and the community vaccinating over 200 people. The shelter has strong relationships with various agencies, including the Department of Human Services, Child Protection Services, and the local Sheriff’s department, allowing them to refer individuals and families in need to the shelter. To further aid those in recovery, Hope House Guthrie partners with Logan Community Services to provide on-site individual and group counseling for addiction recovery and domestic violence trauma. The facility is registered as an NA group called Living Room and holds meetings open to the public twice a week. Clients in the Life Transformation Program are given 1-2 years to stay with the shelter, a period that is optimal for achieving successful reintegration into society. Many single mothers with children have been able to transition into independent living while staying at Hope House Guthrie. The shelter also works with community partners such as AARP and Community Action Agency provides on-site resources to clients, while Logan County Drug Court has referred many of its clients to the shelter for addiction recovery services. We are proud to have supported numerous families over the years in our facility, helping them overcome the challenges and obstacles that they encountered during the reunification process. Our staff members are dedicated to providing compassionate and evidence-based services to families in need, and we believe that our services promote thriving families in the state of Oklahoma. In summary, Hope House Guthrie provides important services to those in need, with a focus on sober living, domestic violence situations, and addiction recovery. The shelter's strong community partnerships have helped us provide quality services to our clients, and its Life Transformation Program has proven to be successful in helping individuals transition back into society. We are excited to introduce Hope House Free clinic in 2025 in partnership with OU College of Nursing.
