Greater Williamsburg residents are welcome to visit The Gathering Place once a week. Please bring proof of residence such as a utility bill or lease with your name on it. We will not accept a drivers license as proof of residence.
Furloughed federal employees are welcome to visit during the government shutdown of 2025, regardless of their residency.
Please, out of safety and for respect of all neighbors, do not arrive until our posted opening hours. We do not have capacity to respond to guests waiting in the parking lot or on the curb and will politely ask you to leave and return when we open for service.

Location Overview
Grove Christian Outreach Center was opened to serve food insecure neighbors living in the Grove community in lower James City County. The commitment to fresh and perishable foods has changed our service area to include residents from across greater Williamsburg. If you live in James City County, Williamsburg or upper York, you may visit our free program once a week.
November of 2024 saw the launch of The Gathering Place, Williamsburg's first free grocery market. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, the program also provides ample shelf stable pantry items for our neighbors to self select. Additional offerings include baby food and formula and hygiene items. Some of our distribution items (such as baby diapers and children' clothing closet) are still limited to neighbors residing in the Grove neighborhood.
