For over 25 years, Gonzales Christian Assistance Ministry has faithfully served the families of Gonzales County with compassion, dignity, and love. Organized as a cooperative Christian ministry, our mission is to provide assistance to those in crisis, serve as a referral resource for families in need, and help individuals move toward independence while reducing the recurrence of future hardships.

It is our privilege to walk alongside individuals and families during difficult seasons, offering hope and practical support to those in need.

We distribute free food boxes to any resident of Gonzales County three times each week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Those receiving assistance are simply asked to state that they reside in Gonzales County.

In addition to our weekly distributions, we proudly participate in the USDA food assistance program, helping provide families with a monthly nutritional supply designed to support approximately 1,000 calories per day for each household member.

Our ministry also operates an on-site thrift store, where clothing items start at just 50 cents each, making affordable essentials available to the community we serve. All proceeds received through our thrift store go directly toward purchasing food for our pantry. Through our partnership with Golden Crescent Food Bank, we are able to purchase food at approximately 19 cents per pound. Every dollar spent in our thrift store directly helps make the work of GCAM possible and supports families throughout Gonzales County.

We are also blessed to receive donations of meat, eggs, and fresh vegetables from caring local donors and vendors within our community. In addition, we are deeply grateful for the generous weekly donations from Walmart, H-E-B, and Dollar General. Because our inventory depends entirely on donated items, each food box may vary from week to week based on what we receive.

At the heart of our mission is the calling found in Scripture — to serve others with love, recognizing that caring for those in need is service unto Christ Himself.
